This course looks at the various interactions we have with financial technology, as well as the technical details behind the scenes. We'll have a number of guest speakers, from established companies + start-ups.
If you’re interested in knowing what goes on behind the scenes when you
pay with your debit card in the supermarket, or how your car insurance
premium is calculated, then this course might be for you. Although there
is going to be a strong technical element, programming experience is
not necessary. We will discuss many of the cryptographic elements and
protections used day-to-day.
The majority of the course will be given in English, and some specific sections can (might) be in German – so ~80% English, ~20% Denglish!
Fintech shows up in many business areas – payments, accountancy, insurance, banking, loans, investments, share trading and even taxes. We’ll look at some of these areas, and chart the influence of technology over the past decades, and see what the future holds.
We’ll discuss the impact of technology solutions for the consumer and the end-user of the financial products, and (probably) debate how important trust and understanding is in this space for these end users.
We’re working with some local companies (SH and Hamburg) to bring some real world knowledge and experience into the classroom.
The course will run each Monday afternoon from 16:00 to 18:00, with the first lecture/presentation on Monday the 5th November.
Die Veranstaltung findet jeden Montag von 16 – 18 Uhr statt. Die erste Veranstaltung wird am Montag den 5.11.2018 stattfinden.
